"Fire" Fire completed her Championship and Obedience Trial Championship by 1987 and her TDX in 1986 while competing for her OTCH. Fire was the second dog of any breed in the AKC to earn the titles of Champion, OTCH, and TDX -- she was preceded by a poodle. AKC Agility didn't exist yet. She began herding at the age of 9 1/2 prior to the AKC's sanctioned herding tests and trials and earned an AWCA HTDX degree and an ASCA Open Duck title. When the AKC implemented herding into its program, Fire earned her PT title on sheep at the age of 11 1/2 years on April 28, 1991. She won many all-breed obedience High In Trial awards and was HIT in obedience at the Collie Club of America national specialty in 1982. She also placed 5th in Open obedience at the 1984 Gaines Invitational. At the 1989 CCA national, Fire won HIT in herding on ducks and was the Most Versatile Collie. Fire also earned the AWCA's VCX title and was certified as both a Hearing Ear and Pet Therapy Dog. |
Fire won BOS from the veterans class at the 1988 Southern California Collie Club specialty under Bobbee Roos, handled by 10-year-old Amber Shields |
